It's so nice to meet you!

I'm Brittany Nievinski (she/her): a Florida-grown, New York-based social designer with a perpetually evolving design practice grounded in trust, openness, and connection. In my work, I seek to cultivate nurturing environments that hold space for open dialogue about what matters to us, because the greatest change starts with a conversation. My background in graphic design and the performing arts have given me unique skills in storytelling and human connection.

In the Spring of 2023, I obtained my MFA in Design for Social Innovation from the School of Visual Arts. In Spring 2021, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Florida (swoop!) with a BFA in Fine Arts, Concentration in Graphic Design and Digital Media, and a minor in Digital Marketing.

I care deeply about other people, and it is my mission to design in a way that affects the world and its inhabitants in a positive way. I feel that designers have a responsibility to work with communities to leverage the power of design in a way that helps move the world in a better direction.

So, what is social design?

Definitions are many, and perpetually evolving, but here are a few key practices that resonate with me:

Designing with, rather than for community, honoring lived experiences and placing the power in their hands to build their own desirable futures.

Using systems thinking to uncover the core of complex issues.

Leveraging creative communication and engagement strategies and technologies to encourage perspective shifts and, ultimately, social change.

So much of this work is about bringing talented, passionate people together. Individuals on their own have so much potential, but the more we work together, the more magic we can create. In order to tap into the greatness within all of us, we must have the courage to show up for one another. We must hold space for conversations about the issues that matter most to us, because the greatest change starts with a conversation.
